Listening to: Sia – This Is Acting
It wasn’t really my aim to start plotting the follow-up to BLOODBIRD this weekend, but I sat down to work on a different project this morning and an idea sparked in my head that needed to get out. I finished a second round of edits to my YA Fantasy THRALL TO THE BURNING SKY and sent them off to my CP early this week, and I planned to start working on either the Contemporary Fantasy or Space Opera I already have plotted out. But then Faida came at me, battle axe swinging, and ordered me to at the very least plot out what happens after BLOODBIRD. Because I left her, Tariq, and Striker in a bad spot and she wants to know how the hell I plan on getting them out of it.
Inspiration struck. A lot of really bad things are going to have to occur. Some new enemies will need to surface. Some new allies. Faida’s heartstone might be a bit battered after this book. She isn’t done with her fight. Not by a long shot.
So I’m plotting. Even though I didn’t intend to. Even though my goal was to start a brand new manuscript with a fresh set of characters and a world I haven’t played in yet. Does it mean I’m going to start writing the follow-up to BLOODBIRD? You know, I don’t think so. Not yet anyway. I still want to dive into a new world…but not until I figure out where I take Faida next. Once I have that outlined, I’ll be “free” to work on something new. She’ll be satisfied for at least a short time.
But hey, when my muse is whispering in my ear, I have to answer her call. At least I’ve got my favorite mug filled with tea, my pups at my feet, and it’s raining outside. It’s the perfect environment for plotting how to create epic pandemonium in my characters’ lives.
