My Month of Radio Silence

Listening to: Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence

Mood: Brilliant

I’ve been quiet lately. Definitely quieter than normal, for sure. And it’s not because I have nothing to say or nothing to tell you. Not at all. I have a lot of exciting things happening behind the scenes that I have to keep under wraps right now. The day job has been pacing at a full out sprint since January. I even went on a cruise for work last month, which surely doesn’t sound like “work” to the average person but believe me when I tell you it was. My writing skills came in handy during that weeklong trip; though not for any ms I’m currently working on. And when I haven’t been at work, I’ve been editing The Burning Sky. There’s so still a lot to be done with the story, but I’m happy with the direction it’s going.

On top of that, a couple weeks ago something interested happened with Bloodbird, one of my mss that’s out in the world. So now I’m wrapped up in working on some key (unexpected, but valuable) Bloodbird rewrites. I haven’t been in Faida’s head in a while, and it’s been ultra fun stepping back into her sassy self to tell her story. I’m reworking some parts, moving things around, cutting out some scenes completely while creating a few new ones that I think will make the story even more awesome. It’s a lot of work. It’s going to totally be worth it.

So that makes me quiet. Quiet on my blog, quiet at home, more quiet than normal at work. It’s been basically radio silence to friends, who thankfully understand me enough to know this is normal when I’m in a writing (or day job) zone. I’ve been so focused on some very specific things that I barely realized it was March until last week. A third of 2015 has gone by, today is the first day of Spring, and I’ve been too busy to notice. I don’t want to burn myself out, which is one of the reasons the blog has fallen to the wayside. Of the list of priorities I have, updating it weekly isn’t at the top of my To-Do list. But I don’t want to forget about you, my dear readers (All three of you. Hi Mom!), so I promise to do it as I’m able and as soon as things slowdown, which I hope is by summertime, I’ll go back to regularly schedule posts.

End transmission. For now.
